Heartbeat Records was an award-winning imprint of Rounder Records that specialized in the music of Jamaica, from ska to rocksteady, reggae to dub and dancehall. I oversaw a major re-branding effort, focusing on the art direction and packaging. Each release featured a cardboard O-Card, which we purposely printed on the "wrong" side of the paper stock to give a more tactile, rougher and rootsy presentation. Additionally, we'd use a different image on the booklet whenever possible, giving us two bites of the apple to set Studio One apart visually.
